Artistic Etchings Masculine Cards...

I CASEd this card from my upline a while ago.  I love how masculine looking it is!!  I never have enough "guy" cards on hand so i made sure i created a handful of them to have on hand.  The greetings i chose were sympathy, birthday and a thank you but I'm sure this would make a GREAT Father's day card as well. :)

To give the cards a bit of a vintage look I dragged the corner of the crumb cake ink pad directly onto the first edition DSP and very vanilla card stock.  I also distressed the edges of the very vanilla card stock with a distressing tool and espresso ink.  On the sympathy cards i switched the DSP, baja breeze card stock and ribbon to the right hand side of the card.  The "sympathy" greeting was a bit long for the jewelry tag punch so i just extended the card stock a bit to make it fit.

Hope you like.. : )

Key to my [Fashionable] Heart take two...

Hello..

What did you think of my last post? Cute card...but not much detail..huh! =)
I'm back today with all the deets......

During the month of February i cut out lots and lots of hearts from the Fashionable Hearts sizzlet (love this little sizzlet!)...Since i had such a variety of sizes and colors i thought i'd play around a bit. I thought it would be a nice touch to add some hearts to this particular DSP! They fit niceyly into the decorative printed circles. Take a look again at the first card i posted. And now take a look at this card:

Do you see a difference between the two cards? Not much difference...the layout is the same but i switched up the size of the hearts on the DSP!

Using a variety of colours i chose to use the smallest heart on the sizzlet for this first card. I used the embossed houndstooth heart and added a short greeting banner. The key is also facing up. AND yes i cut out the DSP to shape the zig zag!...i hear gasps...! Trust me, it didn't take long at all and cutting is part of paper crafting.....right..? ; )

This card has bigger hearts on the DSP. I used the second smallest hearts from the sizzlet and attached them to the DSP. I also cut out a cherry cobbler heart using the full heart punch and backed it onto a crumb cake heart from the framelits die.

I fancied up the arrow greeting banner with a bit of bling. This banner was cut out using the full heart punch. Here's how i did it:

First stamp the greeting on a piece of scrap whisper white card stock. My piece of card stock is 1/2" wide x 3" long. Slide the left end into the full heart punch as shown. This will create a "fork".

Then slide the right end of the greeting card stock into opposite end of the full heart punch as shown here. This creates the point of your "arrow".

Just before you attach your greeting banner to the cherry cobbler heart add some bling! I've raised up the crumb cake heart with stampin' dimensionals.

Key to my Heart

I'm in love with the new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies that Stampin' Up! has just came out with! They are so much fun!! --you'll notice the fun I've been having once you see my next few posts.. ; )

Once i cut out the heart with the big shot i then sprayed a bit of stampin' mist directly onto the heart and crumpled it up into a ball. (my stmapin mist is half water and half mist). Lay flat to dry.

With white craft ink i stamped my greeting right on the black satin ribbon!! so cool... ; )

Once the heart was dry I attached one side of the ribbon to the back of the heart with a stampin' glue dot. I then slipped the trinket key on from the other side of the ribbon and attached it down at the back of the heart with another glue dot. I added stampin dimensionals to the back of the heart before i attached it to the card front.

For the Background i stamp the medallion image from Artistic Etchings in basic gray (stamping off once to lighten the gray) and then i inked up the en francais background stamp in basic black and stamped over the randomly stamped medallions.

I love the way this card turned out so i thought I'd make a few more for the flower shop where i sell my handmade cards. I was short on trinket keys so i changed it up a bit. This is a perfect card for Valentine's Day, Anniversary, Birthday.... you name it ..It's PERFECT for any loved one! : )

As you can see the only thing i changed up was the key! I stamped the key from the Artistic Etchings set and punched it out with the large oval punch. I also added a small heart and small rhinestone gem!

Hope you like.. : )

Artistic Etchings - Bargello Technique

This card was created by my good friend Louise. I asked Louise if i could share this card with you all (yes back when the DSP was current--oops!) and she said OF COURSE!! --

This technique is called Bargello and it was featured in one of our Stampin Sucess magazines a while back and i haven't tried it out yet!! I will for sure have to try it out in the coming months for a future stamp club project.

I love how Louise worked the Bargello technique into this card!! She's done a great job keeping the card simple which shows off the technique very well. The log cabin Smooch Spritz in the background really adds to the card!!

If you've incorporated the Bargello technique into one of your cards i'd love to see it!! : )

Artistic Etching - Thinking of You...

This card was pretty simple to create. The only trick was extending the cardstock for the greeting. I slipped a small piece of card stock (3/8"x1-3/4") in the Jewelry tag punch to extend it. Then i stamped the greeting. I really wanted to use a bit of the cork sheets. I think it added a nice touch!! : )

Faux Metal - Artistic Etchings

I cased this card from Carrie Gaskin. I changed up the ribbon but kept the layout and colours the same!! I just loved her "metal tower" idea with the faux metal technique. I was excited to show it off to my club memebers this month.

Faux Metal Technique: Press your Versamark pad onto a piece of card stock (i used basic gray) and emboss with the same color (i used silver embossing powder). Do this three times to build it up. Ink your stamp in Versamark and after the third coating while the embossing powder is still hot carefully press your stamp into the melted powder to imprint the image.

Oooh La La!

Did you know that it is Vancouver Fashion Week here in Vancouver?  No fashionable girl will want to be caught without this spring's HOTTEST accessories.................here are a few projects that feature the stamp set Artistic Etchings and the Newsprint Designer Series Paper.  Don't you just love the Artistic Etchings stamp set?  It is so versatile (and popular too based on how many of my customers have purchased this set!).  Natasha and I have a couple of projects coming up showcasing this set.  If you don't own it, now is the time to get it so you can make these cute projects too!

This first card comes together super quick.  It simple, but so classy and elgant too.  What a great little note card to give to someone.  This card uses Basic Black cardstock, and Newsprint DSP (edges have been sponged with More Mustard ink).  The centre image has been popped up on Dimensionals.  The red mediallion was stamped off first before stamping the lighter image onto the Newsprint DSP, and then the crown image was stamped overtop in Basic Black.  I then spritzed the image with the Color Spritz tool and a Chocolate Chip marker to distress and create some splatter.  Basic Rhinestone Jewels add bling, and 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Basic Black finishes it off.

I got the idea of my second card from my upline Jenn (Hi Jenn!).  The card was basically designed by her, but I changed the image on the front.  Anyways, the base of the card is a Medium Envelope in Crumb Cake.  It was sealed shut and then slit open down the side by shaving off a hair of the side of the envelope with my paper trimmer.  Once the front of the envelope was decorated, the front edge of the envelope was cut with circle punch.   A whisper white insert was placed inside the envelope with an accent cut in Baja Breeze with a smaller circle punch.

Products used for this project:
Stamp Set: Artistic Etchings, Tiny Tags
Card Stock: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla
Ink: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip (Marker in Color Spritz Tool)
Accessories: Medium Crumb Cake Envelope, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Jumbo Eyelets, Vintage Brads, Mini Vintage Tags, Basic Rhinestone Jewel, Basic Black Brad, Color Spritz Tool, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Dimensionals.

The last project is this glamorous little purse made out of Newspring DSP, Basic Black cardstock, and closes with a Basic Rhinestone Jewel clasp...........tres chic!  What fashionista wouldn't LOVE to get a little gift card in this designer purse?  I purchased the tutorial on how to make this little purse (and two other designs) from Becky Roberts.  You can purchase her tutorial here (look to the sidebar on the right).  $3.95 for all three designs......what a steal.........you'll be ready for the runway!!
