Spread Your Wings Emma!

Warning!  Lots of bragging in today's post :)  Today my daughter Emma, graduated from grade 7.  She's on to high school!  Way to go Emma!  Her school had a sweet little ceremony and dance.  Everyone got their elementary school diploma and awards were given out.  All the girls and the boys looked so nice in their formal wear.  In addition to her diploma, Emma won two service awards, an award for leadership, and an award for academic honour roll.  Earlier this week, we received a call from the high school that Emma had been accepted into the honours program.  We are so proud of you!   I made this card for you.  High school is going to be such an exciting time!   I hope you do "Spread your wings and Fly!"

This card and layout was inspired from a card that I saw online earlier this month.  The picture is not watermarked, so I do not know who to give credit to.  If you recognize it, please let me know, and I will be most happy to give credit where credit is due :)

Thanks Coach!

More June thank you gifts! What a busy end of years it's been.  So far, we've been showing you daycare thank you's, teacher thank you's, dance teacher thank you's, and now we're on to coach thank you's.  Tonight is my son Finn's, last day of T-ball.  We are going to give coach Jack a signed and framed team picture to thank him for a great season.  All the little players signed their names along the mat, and we added this "#1 Coach" ribbon onto the frame.

To make the baseball, simply cut out two circles with the 2-1/2" circle punch.  Sponge one of the circles with Soft Suede ink.  Use the other circle to trace the outline for the stitches to go.  Then use your paper piercer and mat to poke holes in the circle as shown.  Then you can use a needle and bakers twine to sew the stitches onto the ball.

Products used for this project:

Card Stock: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy

Ink: Soft Suede

Accessories and More: 2-1/2" circle punch, paper piercing tool and mat pack, Whisper White baker's twine (die with Real Red classic ink), Island Indigo ruffled ribbon, Stampin' Sponges, Simply Scored scoring board, MDS

MDS: "coach" created in MDS in Early Espresso ink, "#1" created in MDS (twice) in Not Quite Navy ink (and popped out)

Lastly, my husband is the assistant coach.  I know he a a great time coaching Finn and the rest of the kids.  Finn and I made his this thank you gift and keepsake.  I got the idea on Pinterest.  We used Jet Black StazOn in to mark up Finn's hand to make the handprint.  Then Finn signed his name with a black permanent marker.  What a great keepsake!

Dance Teacher Thank You Gifts

Thanks for Teaching Me to Get My Groove On!

This year we had five dance teacher thank you gifts to make! Four for my daughter Emma, and one for my son, Finn.  Emma does ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical.  Finn does tap.  He's too little to know that it's not cool for boys to dance yet :).  I think this is the last year I'll be able to get him to do it.  He just loves soccer and baseball too much to make him keep going.  I'm glad I got one more year of designing and sewing dance costumes in :) -- it's something that I love to do!

This year all the dance teacher's got a gift card holder with an iTunes card in it.   The little records say "Thanks....... for teaching me how to get my groove on".  These are the same little card holders that we featured last year.  They were originally inspired and CASEd from Eighteen25.  You can read more details here.  Finn's dance teacher, Miss Nicole, also got a handmade bag.  The saying was created in MDS and printed out onto ink jet iron-on transfer paper.  The little handprints are done with little hands painted acrylic paint and pressed directly onto the fabric. Once everything was dry, each of the three kids signed their names onto a hand with a permanent black marker.  Miss Nicole loved it!

Mirror/Reflection Technique - Father's Day Club Card

For Stamp Club get together last month we created this card.  I was inspired by a similar swap card i received a while back from Kathy Lancetti. --Thank you Kathy for the inspiration.. : )

I had my eye on the Mirror/Reflection technique for awhile now and couldn't wait to show my club girls this neat technique.  This is a fairly quick technique and all you need is a piece of acetate to stamp and transfer your image.

First ink up your image and stamp on a piece of  whisper white card stock.  Ink up your image again and then stamp on a piece of acetate. To mirror the image line up the image that is on the acetate, with the wet ink facing down, and place it down on the whisper white card stock directly below the already stamped image.  The instructions i followed said to transfer the image by rolling the brayer over the acetate but i found it easier just to rub the acetate with my fingers.  I used old olive ink and a sponge dauber, in circular motion to create some "grass" and used bashful blue ink and a Stampin' Sponge for the "sky".  On the mirror side sponge "lightly" with the same colours to give it a softer look-- like a reflection.

Hope you like  : )

Products used for this project:

Stamp Sets: Thoughts and Prayers, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Tiny Tags

Thumbprint Thank You

As I mentioned earlier, June is here, and that means lots of Thank You cards and gifts for all those people who do such an amazing job of helping our kids all year long. I've already showed you the cute teacher gifts we made earlier, now I'd like to show you the gifts I've made for my son's daycare provider.

My son has the most WONDERFUL daycare provider!!!  Not only does he get loving care during the day while I am at work, he also gets to interact with friends, play,  have social time, and fit lots of learning in.  He loves when they work on counting, colours, crafts, writing, and ABC's.  But mostly, he loves when he gets to be the leader for calendar time.  We made  Miss Eileen this gift from all the children  to thank her for all she does. The image of the tree is from digital set "Forever Young" and the words "Thank You, Miss Eileen" were created in MDS in Early Espresso and printed onto Whisper White card stock.  Then the kids got their fingers messy.  We used their fingers and different colours of classic ink pads to create the finger print "leaves".  Originally, we planned on getting each child to sign their own name, but most of them are too little to sign their name, so my daughter Emma helped out :)  I know Miss Eileen is going to love it.

Supplies used for this Project:

Stamp Sets:  Forever Young (MDS)

Card Stock:  Whisper White

Ink: Summer Starfruit, Lucky Limade, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Basic Black (marker)

Accessories and More:  MDS

We needed to add something special for Miss Eileen from Finn.  He will be leaving Miss Eileen's.    In September he will go on to kindergarden, and will no longer being going to daycare.  Miss Eileen is having a farewell party for him.  It will be a bittersweet day.  We have been so lucky to have such wonderful care and such a lovely person in our lives.  We made her a paper flower bouquet too.  You can find more information on the pencil vase and paper flower bouquet here

Artistic Etchings Masculine Cards...

I CASEd this card from my upline a while ago.  I love how masculine looking it is!!  I never have enough "guy" cards on hand so i made sure i created a handful of them to have on hand.  The greetings i chose were sympathy, birthday and a thank you but I'm sure this would make a GREAT Father's day card as well. :)

To give the cards a bit of a vintage look I dragged the corner of the crumb cake ink pad directly onto the first edition DSP and very vanilla card stock.  I also distressed the edges of the very vanilla card stock with a distressing tool and espresso ink.  On the sympathy cards i switched the DSP, baja breeze card stock and ribbon to the right hand side of the card.  The "sympathy" greeting was a bit long for the jewelry tag punch so i just extended the card stock a bit to make it fit.

Hope you like.. : )
